Native Door Sign

Do you remove your footwear when you are entering one’s home?

A wooden frame found on the entrance of a villa in Leivy Lance Resort, Gabaldon, Nueva ECija

I don’t know, I have this fascination for native crafts. How about you?

  7. beautiful sign and yes! I do remove my footwear just to show a common courtesy :-) Visiting from #36 of BPC, hope that you can return the visit too.

  8. I usually do, especially when I can see even from the front door that the home’s flooring is spic and span. LOL. Here in the US though, people don’t really do it that every time I go to somebody’s house and I tend to remove my shoes right upon entering, I am always told not to remove my footwear. But I still do, because I’ve been so used to it. Dito naman sa amin, we always do and I always clean our floor, kahit pa naka-tsinelas kami sa loob. So when a Pinay friend came over and didn’t take her shoes off, I had to tell her to please take her shoes off coz it is our policy that we do. LOL. But I have to tell her in a friendly way para naman di sya ma-offend. :)

  9. Cool signs!

  10. here at home, we don’t (though my 3year old does, kasi gusto daw nya ung lamig galing sa floor.lol), and even at my parent’s house (we don’t take off our shoes/slippers). am not really used to it, but some of my friends do honor that tradition and i take off my shoes (when i see lots of footwears in front of the door, lol) before entering. :)

  11. at home we use socks. so, it’s been a habit of us to remove our shoes when we are in somebody else’s home. I get irritated when someone does not take their shoes off when they are in our house ang iniisip ko na lang, baka mabaho ang paa kaya nahihiyang tanggalin ang sapatos..nyahahhaha

  12. they do here in Thailand…most people does especially when going inside the temples! kami naman sa Pilipinas we do also, sa bahay namin we have sleepers na pambahay…:) nakasanayan na lang din siguro! sa school ni CJ sa Cambodia at dito sa Thailand they always removed their shoes when going inside the classroom. visiting late from Thursday Brownies, hope you can visit me back. thanks and have a great week. :)
